It beats me!

This expression is used to express surprise at something that you find difficult to understand.

Example:

It beats me how could he be indifferent when he heard the news.

يستخدم هذا التعبير لإبداء الإندهاش من صعوبة أمر ما على الفهم.

مثال:

Afraid of his own shadow

A person who is afraid of his/her own shadow is very nervous or easily frightened.

Example:
I jumped out of bed once I heard that loud voice, it seems I'm afraid of my own shadow!

المقابل باللغة العربية:

يخاف من ظله.

الشخص الذي يخاف من ظله هو شخص شديد العصبية ويشعر بالخوف بسهولة. 

مثال:
